Opportunities and Challenges in the 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century.\u201d Dr. Dr. Benjamin Hasselhorn (Wittenberg) and Prof. Dr. Ralf Frisch (N\u00fcrnberg) pointed out prospects for the Lutheran church in response to present-day challenges. In his lecture on \u201cLutheran Identity,\u201d Prof. Dr. Theodor Dieter of the Institute placed high priority on the communication of the theological content held by worldwide Lutheranism. Another portion of the working time focused on, among other things, ecumenical documents emerging from various national Lutheran-Catholic dialogues. After discussing the Finnish declaration on \u201cCommunion in Growth\u201d, the committee wrapped up with a report on the German document \u201cGott und die W\u00fcrde des Menschen\u201d (God and the Value of Human Beings).<a href=\"https:\/\/www.strasbourginstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/P1000691-a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5765\" title=\"P1000691-a\" src=\"https:\/\/www.strasbourginstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/P1000691-a-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The German Ecumenical Studies Committee is a branch of the German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation, which takes up the theological work of the LWF for the purpose of accompanying German Lutheranism and contemporary themes in ecumenical theology. To this committee belong representatives of Germany\u2019s Lutheran <em>Landeskirchen<\/em> and Institutes for Ecumenical Research, delegates of the \u00a0United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD) and a \u00a0member of the German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation.
