Andrei Aioanei, scholarship holder of the Institute

My name is Aioanei Andrei, and I’m a graduate of Orthodox Theology at the A.I. Cuza University of Iaşi (Romania). During my four-year bachelor studies in Old Testament theology at the University of Iasi, I have developed a keen interest in studying ancient Near Eastern societies. With determination and enthusiasm, I wanted to continue to explore the interactions between them, especially since recent sciences can offer many discoveries. Currently, I’m a student in the second year of the Master’s program „Religious reference texts: contexts, issues, and reception“ at the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the University of Strasbourg. My Master’s thesis project, co-supervised by Prof. R. Hunziker-Rodewald (Strasbourg) and Dr. A. Aston (Oxford), is dedicated to interpreting Old Testament traditions from the 1st millennium BC. For the future, I want to continue with a thesis at the doctoral school and to commit myself to interdisciplinary research between theology and anthropology. Another point of interest for me is my research’s ecumenical implications and how it could contribute to various ecumenical issues.
