Shortly before Easter, on 11-13 April 2019, the Board of the Institute for Ecumenical Research met and discussed at length a number of issues pertaining to the Institute’s work and personnel. Two new additions to the Board were welcomed, both renowned theologians and ecumenists: Lukas Kundert from Switzerland, who is Professor of New Testament at the University of Basel and President of the Church Council of the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Basel-Stadt (Switzerland), as well as Timothy Wengert, retired Professor of Church History from the United States who is known especially for his work on Philip Melanchthon and his long service on the Lutheran-Catholic dialogue. The Board, thus once again fully staffed, is eager to accompany the Institute by means of its international connections and ecumenical expertise.
