In order to support the Institute, the "Strasbourg Society for Ecumenical Theology (Association for the Promotion of the Institute for Ecumenical Research in Strasbourg in the Service of the Lutheran World Federation) e.V." was founded as a support association under German law; the association is a non-profit organisation – this means that a donation receipt can be issued for donations and membership fees, which is tax deductible according to national law.
The association has set itself two main goals for this year: firstly, we were able to celebrate the inauguration of the roof in the Institute and our beautiful garden in early summer, not least as a thank you to the donors, but above all as a meeting place for friends of the Institute and ecumenical theology. The presence and speech of the General Secretary of the Lutheran World Federation, Dr Anne Burghardt, was particularly noteworthy. The second project – the publication of writings is expressly mentioned in the statutes as a purpose of the association – is the participation in the publication of a documentary volume on the international colloquium that was held on the premises of the Institute in spring 2022 to mark the 70th birthday of Prof Dieter. This volume is in the final stages of preparation for printing and will be published by Evangelische Verlagsanstalt in Leipzig in the spring.
