In November, Prof. Theodor Dieter of the Strasbourg Institute along with Prof. Sarah Hinlicky Wilson, Visiting Professor of the Institute currently based in Tokyo, taught the course Studying Luther in Wittenberg for the 11th year running. This means they have entered their second decade of teaching the class together!

Developments in the financial markets means that as an Institute we increasingly rely on donations for our work. Only thanks to continuous donations from, for example, the Evangelical Lutheran churches in Germany, Finland, and Norway can we hold events such as the International Summer Seminar.

The former Carthusian Monastery (Cartuja Aula Dei) in Zaragoza, Spain, hosted a week of Ecumenical Studies from 10 to 17 November 2019. Every week since 2013, this week, in response to a request from the Communauté du Chemin Neuf, has been carried out by the Strasbourg Institute in conjunction with the diocese of this city.

LWF Consultation in Addis Ababa To grow together as a community of Lutheran churches requires an understanding of what constitutes this community in its diversity and unity. In November 1979 the Protestant Council of Strasbourg was founded. Reception of the European Communicators of the LWF at the Institute Once again from 8 to 11 October 2019, a meeting of the communicators from the three European regions of the Lutheran World Federation took place and this time the choice of venue was Strasbourg.
